From the time I started, it took me over 18 years to realize that I had a serious drug problem…and I put 100% of the blame on my best friend, John. Now I know people will hear me say that, and right away get upset, telling me I should be more accountable, but as long as I’ve known John he’s been addicted to heroin. The first time I smoked, he actually walked in on me at my apartment. He saw everything. He really let me have it, screaming, “you better be fucking careful, that’s a gateway drug, that’s a gateway drug, it better not lead to anything else!” So I figured, gateway drug, as long as I don’t do anything worse, I’ll be fine…100% his fault. Because not only did he catch me smoking, but he caught me smoking crack.
